John has been a lifetime entrepreneur and innovator with several successful private-equity backed companies. Over the last ten years he has founded and run companies in early growth stages that have challenged the ‘traditional ways’ of doing business and competed successfully against much larger publicly financed companies. Always focused on making technology work for consumers, John led one of the first companies to offer cable television, telephone and internet service over one proprietary Hybrid Fiber Coax network, commonly referred to by the large cable and telecom operators as the “triple-play”. Not only have these businesses delivered superior products and services to their consumers, but they have also delivered exceptional returns to their shareholders. His experience bringing to market consumer friendly products in high technology environments has been a key ingredient to establishing Vivaro (through its subsidiaries) as a key destination point for Hispanics looking to find highly relevant and reliable communication and financial services solutions.
Dan is the business and strategic leader of Unidos, the company’s financial services division, which he launched in 2007. He oversees all of the day-to-day operations of this rapidly growing business. Previously, he served as the Vice President of Business Development where he led new product development, including Unidos, and helped build and expand the company's direct-to-store distribution network. His background includes counseling and advising numerous venture funds and emerging growth companies at Gunderson Dettmer and has held several other positions working with venture and private-equity backed companies, including Pfizer-Shiley. Dan holds a BA in Economics from Georgetown University, a JD from Northwestern University School of Law and took advanced coursework at Kellogg School of Management.
Jay is responsible for the overall strategy and development of the company’s telecommunications business including International route development, global carrier relations, product development, and new business opportunities with consumers and partners. Prior to joining Vivaro, he created global and domestic carrier networks and initiated a highly successful calling card division at Sakon (a subsidiary of L-3 Communications). He has over ten years of management and executive experience in international telecommunications where his work included building and managing global networks and establishing direct relationships with local partners and PTT’s in host countries.
Dave oversees all of the critical financial and administration functions at the Company’s headquarters. He has spent fifteen plus years in various financial capacities serving private-equity backed companies in the wireless and telecommunications spaces, including the recapitalization and eventual sale of Independent Wireless One (a Sprint Wireless Affiliate serving the northeast corridor) to Sprint Nextel for $427 million. Dave was most recently Chief Operating and Finance Officer for a semiconductor nanotechnology company (Evident Technologies) responsible for business development and implementation of global distribution and supply channels.
Lydia brings more than eighteen years of marketing experience in consumer package goods, retail and financial services industries targeting the Hispanic consumer in the U.S. She is responsible for brand architecture, consumer intelligence, media, public relations and the development of acquisition and retention programs across all products and channels of distribution. Previously, she has worked for Wakefern Food (ShopRite Supermarkets) and Goya Foods and her extensive experience also include several years in the remittance industry working for Servicio UniTeller.
Doug has over two decades of experience in senior level management and consulting positions within IT organizations spanning the Telecom, Manufacturing, Engineering, Media and Publishing industries. Prior to joining Vivaro, Mr. O’Brien served as an independent consultant for venture capital and small boutique firms, providing expert analysis on OSS/billing solutions, revenue assurance, telecom expense management, and business process re-engineering to business owners enabling them to obtain a more strategically focused operation.
